Intensive Driving lesson
The intensive driving lesson is not to everyone's taste as it can be a
rather 'full on' experience and many would like a gentler introduction to
driving.
Cost is also a consideration and unless you need to pass your test in a
hurry, you might prefer the gentler and less urgent weekly lesson to the
intensive driving lesson.
So who would require an intensive driving lesson and attend such a
course?
It could be a newly qualified doctor who needs to be mobile and does not
have the luxury of time on his or her side, or any person whose job or
circumstance requires the ability to drive.
It has been statistically proven that the greater the time spent between
driving lessons, the slower the student's progress. This is because the
information learnt can be rapidly forgotten and it is important to keep
up the momentum of learning.
While many believe the ideal is around one lesson of two hour duration
per week, there is still the case that seven to twelve days of
concentrated tuition will produce excellent result and that, in spite of
the initial expenditure for the course, the intensive driving lesson can
work out to be less costly than the more conventional sort.
Before you can start your first intensive driving lesson, you must have
passed the driving theory test and, although not essential, it is an
advantage if you have some driving experience before you make a start.
One of the factors that make these intensive courses so relatively costly
is that the instructors who attend the course do so at the expense of
their usual work and it thus required that they rearranged their
timetable accordingly.
So let's list some reasons for choosing the intensive driving course:
- You are given a complete immersion into the experience of driving for
around seven to twelve days and receiving such a high concentration of
information over a short period does, apparently results in more
retention and therefore quicker learning.
- The fact of committing yourself financially can be a strong motivator
and should increase your determination to succeed.
- There is the guarantee that if you fail your test at the end of the
course, you will be given a number of hours of free tuition.
- There is the reward of condensing your learning period for the
practical stage of your driving education to around one or two weeks
instead of, sometimes, many months.
So there you have it; the intensive driving option has much to
commend it and can even be ultimately more cost effective.
